Object: Bluebird Sold
Materials: Vitreous Glass Tesserae with Dark Grey Grout on Concrete
Dimensions: 17.5" Diameter
Method: Indirect (glued to paper and then transferred to the bench after pre-grouting)
Using the indirect method may seem like overkill for such a small piece, but I like the freedom in changing the tiles after they have been glued to the paper. This is useful for subtle color changes or to fix mistakes. I averted a big mistake on this stone. The circular border had too many bobbles for my taste, so I pulled off the entire border and was able to redo it.
01 With craft glue the tiles are applied in reverse on the paper for the Indirect Method.
02 Application of the tiles to the paper is complete.
This was a stepping stone I started for the purpose of experimenting with some various shades of grout. I have several stones outside, so I can see how colored grout holds up in the elements.
